L&L: Tell us a little bit about you & your business.

I started Field just two years ago out of a reverence for flowers, a background in design, and a drive to earn a living by creating. I approach florals from a fine art background using the synthesis of colors, shapes, textures, negative space, etc to make my arrangements. I emphasize the palpably vibrant qualities of what’s in season, sourcing my flowers from local farms, and often forage for unusual materials. I love tight color palettes, lots of texture, loose and airy designs, novel ingredients, and unity between the flowers and the rest of the event.

L&L: Describe the range of services you offer.

In addition to providing florals to fit your event, we are available for full event styling and coordination. This service includes visioning and ideas, tablescaping, rental management, high-quality vendor contracting, and orchestration of the day’s events. Our focus is on cohesion, simple beauty, details, and right fit to context/environment. We offer full-service and/or day-of wedding styling and coordination..

L&L: What is one thing you would say makes your business unique in the industry?

I think our wild floral style stands out the most! Also, that we are ethically scrupulous in our business practices, and commit to using as little plastic and floral foam as possible, pay our freelancers a living wage, support local flower farms, and routinely donate to non-profits.

L&L: What are some of your favorite venues and vendors you enjoy working with in the area?

There is so much heart, creativity, and beauty in Maine’s wedding scene. I am constantly being introduced to passionate new photographers, planners staying on trend, and venues that highlight Maine’s glory.

L&L: How far in advance do couples usually book you for their wedding day?

8-16 months

L&L: How do most clients find you?

Mostly through vendor referrals.

L&L: What is the most memorable wedding you worked at and why?

Tough question! The most memorable are the ones where I get to forge a relationship with my couples. After sharing in someone’s really special dreams we often feel quite close and stay in touch. In this vein, my favorite wedding was last May at High Mountain Hall in Camden. The couple, Amy and Paul, was THE BEST- hilarious, considerate, responsive, and kind. They hired Field to put together absolutely sumptuous late spring florals as well as the rest of the event details- including pies, french ticking, floral garlands, hundreds of coral charm peonies, silk ribbon aisle decor, and more.

L&L: How can couples get in touch with you?

It’s best to contact me through email. We can confirm the date is still open, and then dig into the juicy details and easily exchange inspiration photos.

L&L: Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Just that I really love what I do, and this comes through in both the process and results.
