Their love story, in Paige’s words.

Paige: Both on the night we met and on the following night, we stayed up talking and eating pizza and Ben & Jerry’s until 6:00am at Wilson’s apartment. We spent six days together before Wilson had to fly 1,000 miles away to work out on the Great Lakes as a ship’s engineer. Wilson was supposed to be gone for one month, but ended up having to stay on the ship for 62 days. We wrote letters, talked every night, and sent flowers and cookies while we counted down the days until Wilson could come home. I picked Wilson up at the airport on October 1, 2013 and we’ve been inseparable ever since!

He proposed on November 14, 2014 at our home in Port Monmouth, New Jersey. That afternoon, he had sent me an email saying that he had made a reservation at our favorite restaurant and that I should be ready by 7:00pm. That night, Wilson put much more effort than usual into his hair and outfit. When I was ready to go, I walked into the kitchen and startled him. He had been fumbling with something small by the sink. He shoved it into his pocket and his face turned bright red. It was then that I knew that tonight was the night. All throughout dinner, Wilson was nervous and awkward. I went about my night as usual and nothing happened during dinner or on the ride home. Assuming that he had changed his mind or that I had been wrong about how he was acting, I slid my heels off at the door and headed to our bedroom to put my pajamas on. Wilson followed me, with his dress shoes still on, and asked me to wait. He grabbed my hand, called our two dogs Sophia and Miley over to his side, and got down on one knee in the living room of our little beach bungalow and popped the question. And of course, I said “yes”!

We chose the Old Port for the location of our engagement photo shoot because we both love the feel of the area. I’ve been going to the Old Port since I was young, and Wilson and I really enjoying shopping, eating out, and just walking around together there. I’ve always loved the ocean and all things nautical, but ever since I started dating a sailor I’ve totally immersed myself in nautical style with my clothes, our home decor, and now, with our wedding theme. The beautiful cobblestone, the seafood markets, the boats, and the beautiful waterfront made the Old Port a perfect fit for our nautical inspired photo shoot.

Our wedding is August 22, 2015. We’re holding a sunset ceremony in front of Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse in South Portland with a casual outdoor ceremony to follow at the mother of the bride’s home in Freeport. I’ll be wearing an ivory and rose gold lace dress with flats and a dainty flower crown and Wilson will be wearing a navy suit with Sperry’s and a nautical bow-tie. Our theme colors are white and navy and both the ceremony cite and reception cite will be filled with nautical décor like anchors, ship’s wheels, lobster traps, buoys, and seashells.

If this engagement shoot is any indication of what their wedding will be like we can’t wait to see! We’re loving how the nautical theme really ties into this couple’s personality. A huge thank you to Mackenzie Lamoureux Photography for capturing the true essence of Paige and Wilson’s love. We hope you enjoy this Old Port Engagement Session.
