Love Story of Emily & Mike

September 19 • 2014

New England is known for it’s gorgeous vistas, and also for its unpredictable weather. But the weather gods were smiling last spring for Emily & Mike; they enjoyed perfect weather for their vintage DIY wedding in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Love Days Photography was there to capture the whole event. Wayne Chinnock, one of Love Days photographers, says:

This was such an awesome DIY wedding to photograph. Emily is a photographer and Mike is a game and graphic designer so they put together some pretty amazing stuff for their wedding theme.

He also shared that Emily’s fur stole was a family heirloom, that her mom made the veil, and that her hair comb was decorated with her grandmother’s earrings. What a great way to honor your heritage! Most of the decorations were DIY, including the paper flower centerpieces and paper pinwheels for the family photo display. And the majority of the vintage items, such as the jars, bottles, and vases were found by the couple at flea markets, yard sales, or borrowed from friends. The couple also gave out maple syrup favors that were made by the bride’s parents from maple trees in their Connecticut backyard!

We applaud Emily & Mike for their thrifty and delightfully DIY wedding (loving the Art Nouveau favor tags Mike designed!) and a huge thank you to Love Days Photography for sharing these inspiring images!
