Chalkboard Decor Inspiration

December 12 • 2013

Hardy Farm might be the new kid in town (they opened in June 2013) but they are already completely booked for the 2014 season. We have a feeling their great style and that stunning barn have something to do with it. As a DIY wedding venue, they encourage couples to come in with fresh ideas to make the barn and property completely unique.

But they also have great ideas of their own. Here are some suggestions from Hardy Farm on how to incorporate chalkboards into your decor.

From bar signs to wedding programs to seating charts and so much more, chalkboards are an extremely versatile decor item for your Maine barn wedding ceremony and reception.  Available at most craft and hardware stores, chalkboard paint is easy as pie.  For a quick DIY chalkboard sign, simply find an old frame (size is up to you!), paint the glass with 2 coats of chalkboard paint, wait for it to dry, cure it (by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk all along the surface and then wiping clean) and write whatever you want! We love the idea of using stencils and tape to make shapes on glasses (mason jars, anyone?) or pieces of wood for table numbers and as an alternative to traditional escort cards. Below are some of the most common ways people are incorporating chalkboard elements to their wedding decor.
