How We Met

Steve and I met while working at MTV in Los Angeles. Steve’s last week was my first week. After Steve left the company in the summer of 2009, we kept running into each other at various social events — we were even at the same single people Valentine’s Day dinner seated at opposite ends of the table! We finally connected at a Halloween party later that year and the rest is history!

Our Proposal

We made it a tradition in our house to bring in bagels, cream cheese and lox on weekends and one weekend Steve said that the restaurant had an extra something special. I opened the empty cream cheese container and found his grandmother’s beautiful engagement ring. After Steve got down on one knee and I said yes!!!, he surprised me again with a weekend away to the Bacara Resort in Santa Barbara. The proposal was so personal, surprising and truly perfect. It was an incredible weekend that neither of us will ever forget!

Planning the Wedding

I grew up in Falmouth, Maine. and while I was never an outdoorsy person, Maine will always be a special place for me. In deciding if we should have our wedding in Maine or California, we decided that Maine would feel like more of an escape and a beautiful backdrop! To be honest, the planning was overwhelming! I LOVE weddings and will watch bridal shows all day, every day, BUT when it came down to the excel sheets, contracts and RSVPs, I just wanted to push fast forward! After all of the work, the wedding was absolutely perfect and well worth all of the sweat and tears!

Wedding Day

Our entire weekend was a beautiful blur. It first felt real to us when we were walking down the cobblestone streets of the Old Port and ran into friends and family from far and wide. We had guests from Ohio, Florida, California, New York and even Hong Kong! It meant so much to us that everyone traveled so far to celebrate with us!

The day went by so quickly! It was one of the hottest days of the summer and although everyone was sweating through their clothes, the day was so memorable because by the end of the night, everyone just kicked off their shoes and embraced the heat! One of the moments that really stuck out to us both was sitting on the top level of the ferry back to Portland. The night had finally cooled and we were surrounded by our friends and family. The icing on the cake was the leftover lobster rolls that we passed around on the ferry! You can’t get more Maine than that!
